I would like to grow b/berry Loch Tay. Would it fruit in it's first year, if so how much & how big a post would it need.

If you bought in a Blackberry it would fruit this year, I think Loch tay is reasonably restrained, not like my Fantasia...

I may be wrong, but thought all blackberries were the same? Mine ( Oregon and Merton) tend to produce fruit on the new stems that grew last year. I cut down all the old stems at the end of the autumn, after fruiting, leaving only the new stems. The new stems fruit the next year.
So, if a blackberry was to be purchased in 2009, and assuming it doesn't have great long stems on it already, it would be growing stems in 2009 which would fruit in 2010.  ???
