Mushy Pea

Hi Tim,

But the real question in todays "credit crunch" is how many more meals did you get out of the ham bone?

;D

MP

Since you ask, MP - an interesting question.

Dukeshill happy Wiltshire Ham - 4800g  = 4100g usable (less bone & fat) - £50 = £1.20/100g.

The breakdown:
2600g  lunch & snack supper for 17
200g Knuckle bits for soup.
700g family take-away.
300g Monday lunch & child sandwich.
300g freezer
Plus 2.5l Stock.

Not too OTT??

What a lovely family photo tim,

You are a wizzard with the off cuts,        ;D

that is seriously impressive! I do freeze parmesan ends so when I make pea and ham soup I use it to flavour but you really use every scrap!

....but the bone, the bone!

I've a 'tween Xmas & New Year tradition...all the bones, ham/pork/lamb/pheasant/whatever I've had left over during the year gets hurled into the freezer......and then....time for the Big Turn Out.....biggest saucepan, all the thawed bones, this'n'that & seasonings, all simmered for ages'n'ages to make stock, and then the most gloriously rich soup 8)

Ditto - but thought that a mélange might be interesting?

tim

Thanks to asbean, I can now say mêlée - as an alternative.

Same mess in the end!!

tim

Doesn't look much off the bone, but I thought that my butchery skills might be impaired by the affluence of incohol
