Any day now, I will have given up my Lottie,  knew it was coming - but didn't

expect to feel such a loss.    I know It is for the best - health , age etc, but went

down today to pick up more stuff  ---   how can a 6x4 shed hold so much ?

The Black and Red currant bushes are like ' chandeliers ' -- so full of fruit, and the

year old Blackcurrant is well on it's way.      Want to leave them for the next one 's

who may appreciate them,   hope so !

Awwwww sad but you have had great times on the lottie and it is azing how much a 6 x 4 shed can hold i swear they are all related to the tardus  ;D
Lovely of you to leave stuff for the new people to enjoy  :)

That's so sad - couldn't you have some of the fruit & veg from the new plot holders?  After all, you grew them, they're really lucky  :( :( :( :(

do you know if someone is to take it over? i can understand how you must be feeling, plants are just starting to green up and grow well after the winter and to leave it must be so hard.

Must have been a tough decision Flossy, make sure you still come round these parts, always enjoy your posts.

What a terrible shame.  Hope it's taken on by someone who will care for it as much as you obviosuly have.

Saw Margaret at the allotment today, she has had to give it up this year (next year) as has been registered blind.  She picked some rhubard but cut her leg on something and it was bleeding but luckily she had a bandage with her. Luckily she had her friend with her but they both walk with sticks and are old so it is difficult and they have to get a bus home.  It is upsetting for her and I would like to help but it is too overgrown for me to do hers and mine.  She said I can help myself to what I want and she has taken a lot of cuttings, plants home to put in her communal garden.  Also I have given her my telephone number and have her address and if I have plenty of anything will pay her a visit.  Her pear tree is full of bloom so hopefully whoever takes over (and I will make sure they know about Margaret) will also take some produce to her house.  Also she will be very welcome to come up anytime and sit on my plot, she is a lovely lady.  I feel sad for you but hope that you know other people on the allotment site and can visit and most allotment people are very generous and love to give things away when they have a surplus.  Don't be sad.

I can see why you are feeling so sad,Flossy. Will you still be growing stuff at home?

Thank you all so much for your posts,

do feel a lot better this morning,  though have to go down again today  --  OH is

going to help me with some  ' heavies '.    I should be grateful that I have a garden

waiting for me - and I am,   but it's different isn't it  --  the lottie I mean !

Would like to continue with some veg etc at home, but maybe next year or this

Autumn perhaps  --  another door opens as they say,

 Thanks again ,

Like Tony said"You dont need to leave the site". There are plenty of people on here who haven't got an allotment. Just have a small space in the garden for your veg and call it your mini plot.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I know how you feel Floss, I had to give mine up too  after only a few months, hubby changed his shift and I just couldnt get there. I was upset too at the time. But in all honesty my garden is enough for me to work.

Im sure you will enjoy growing outside your back door  ;)

You have to stay and share your knowledge with me.....erm us  ;D ;D ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Digeroo

I have only had my lottie for four weeks and it has provided me with a huge social buzz so sad you have had to give it up, but new people like me would love to have taken on a plot already growing things.  I have had to start from scratch.  But I would very very much welcome the advice that an old hand can bring.

I have been growing veg in garden for some time but things are different on the lottie.  Have much more space so growing all sorts of new things.  Please stay in touch we need you.

lushy86

Oh Floss that is really sad.  Please, please don't leave us, your posts are always supportive and caring and us newbies need your knowledge and friendship as I'm sure your old friends on here do too.

The people that take over from you are lucky buggers if you ask me!

Love and hugs
