Planted my spuds

I planted my exhibition potatoes today.
From start to finish it took 2hrs.
I am very happy with the results so far. ;D

I have planted them in polypots.

Really simple to do and make harvesting a doddle :)

Hi Iain hows it going, first time I've seen spuds done like this, easy for harvesting and no rogue spuds, but it looks a bit long winded filling the bags and do you use the soil from the trench for filling the bags and how do you go about earthing up and whats the cost of the bags and do you reuse them. Only one other question, now Huttons fit when do you want to buy him back.  ;D ;D ;D

Kev I have sent Rangers a cheque to help them out so you can expect Hutton to be back home soon ;D
The bags are 17ltr polypots and you can re-use them a few times as long as you are carefull with them.
Now here is the good part. I use a good quality compost that I add fertilizer and calcified seaweed to.
I then fill the pots and put one potato into each pot and let them grow in my green house. I do not earth the pots up and all the potato shoots are through in 2 weeks. If you are not bothered about perfect skin finish then the soil from your garden would do but I would add fertilizer to your mix.
In the botttom of the trench I break the soil up and add fertilizer. The polypots have holes in the bottom for the roots to get out of.
First year I have tried it but the results I have seen are brilliant.
