I can't afford a new car so it isn't an issue.

I thinkf they do go ahead with this it should only be for British cars so it would give the whole of the UK a boost.

Now way would i scrap my beloved volvo estate for any amount of money !!!!!!!!

If you have got a real old banger and a free bus pass...BUT it seems that the key is, you must buy another car.

Not ecologically ideal.

My 16 yr old Astra is going strong, it just recently passed an MOT.
I won't be buying a new car due to lack of money.

While we're on electric cars, surely they create just as much or more pollution as a normal car,
as the electricity has to be generated by power stations first.
I really can't see them being charged from solar panels in this country, as there isn't the room on the roof of the average house.

There are still British built cars and Rover (or Roewe as they may be known from now on) should start building cars at Longbridge very soon.

Didn't know about the longbridge thing. Good news for those in brum 8)

My 13 year old Micra will only be scrapped when either the body falls apart or the engine dies.  I am perfectly happy with it and I have no desire at all to have a different car.

LOL, this is true.
But on the other hand there's no way I'd be able to drive an estate car, much as I'd like to.
