insect?

While at my daughters yesterday we saw an insect we hadn't seen before. It looked a member of the beetle family, pale green with a greyish blob at the back end. It was about 3/4' long & 1/2 inch wide. I think it had 6 legs. Any ideas please.

With those dimensions I would be thinking Sheild Bug, but I'm sure you would recognise them...  :-\

You are a star ;) ;) ;). Granddaughter was giving it a cuddle. She loves creepy crawlies & is so gentle for an almost 3year old.
