Debs,
I would say prepare the plot for next year and do not worry about sowing anything now. I would suggest start digging part of your plot on dry days....you will benefit more from doing this than sowing stuff in cold wet conditions.

There are lots of other tasks you can do over the winter that will benefit you next year. If there is a fence needing repairs fix it over the winter...you may not have time to get to do it next spring.  Other than that send away for seed catalogues and decide what you want to do next year.

Enyoy the time you have over the winter and get ready for next spring.

Hello Debs,

You're certainly going to be able to get garlic and shallots started off - garlic now, shallots p'raps Feb. time?  I bought an early-planting shallot from The Garlic Farm & it's in now. Cheers, Lishka

Broad Beans - am I addicted to broadbeans!  They can go in now, however, I would say, now the miserable weather is here, and spring, lets face it, isn't miles away, prepare when you can, enjoy the seed catalogues, plan what you think you wanna do, and bide your time.  Nothing will really do much in the way of growing now - to bl**dy wet in my part of Essex anyhow!   ;D

hiya, pop a few tulips in - lots of the little species tulips can stay where they are. When you are really busy, round about March and April, there will be something bright and cheery to look at - make good cut flowers too.

You might be able to find some fruit bushes around check out what other lottie holders are getting rid of on your plot you may be able to pick up a few bits.
It is a bit wet at the moment to do much but even if you buy a fruit bush in a container from the garden centre and trench it in you have put your mark on your lottie its a great feeling.
