any ideas? got some of that barrier stuff that you sprinkle around but are there any dog safe pellets please?

Yes, the Growing Success ones, cheapest at Wilkos.  Blue tub, £3-ish from memory.  They're animal and child-safe, ferramol based.  And they work for me on both slugs and snails.
