I re planted last years onions that were on the small side. I have noticed they have split like shallotts and are now producing flowers? should these be cut off or left to go to seed?

I would prefer the onions, but would letting it go to seed affect the onion size?

daileg

if it were me i would cut them off and leave what have you to loose you have allready stated they were to small so go on give it ago let us know how you got on , possible a new species you could name after yourself if it works and and you end up with onions like space ships or something lol

JoeCocker

i'll do half and half and see which has the best results

I didnt think saved small onions from last years crop will do anythiong else but go to seed.

I certainly dont think you will get bigger onions!
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose

They seem to have split in half and formed another ajoining onoin?

You get that sometimes when one set is actually two fused together. You've probably noticed something similar sometimes when peeling garlic.
