I have been given some onion sets some one forgot to plant. They are nice and firm. I know it is too late to plant them really but it wont cost me anything.

Any one know the odds of getting any produce from them?

Very little, they are day length sensitive... and we have passed the longest day.  :-\

A collegue of mine picked up a boxfull of packs thrown out from a garden centre a few weeks back and we decided to plant them to see what happens. So far they seem to be growing like mad and the worst case scenario would be spring onions. They cost nothing so if there is space then plant them otherwise bang them in the fridge for a few months.

I had a few left over last year that I rediscovered about this time.
I planted them in a large pot and they did reasonably well and I used them around Dec- Jan time straight from the pot.
So put them in as previously said you can use them as spring onions  in the worst case scenario.
