We are surrounded by Blackthorn hedges which are cut soon...always then get several punctures in wheelbarrow. Looked at the silicone wheeels but they are 30-40 quid!!!!!
Guy in lawnmower shop told us theres a self sealing gel you put in 4 wheel barrows (I think) tyres and he said works well with wheelbarrows. Anyone tried this stuff....as last week we had 3 punctures in one day!

You should be able to pick up a small bottle of "tyre sealant" in a bicycle repair shop or online.

There are several brands and every one I've used has done the intended job; if you're lucky enough to have a bike shop nearby take the wheel along & they'll probably do the job for £8-12.

super....he said this stuff stays semil liquid and automatically fills gaps. Blckthorn is great but spiky!

Coincidently, I just received Lidl's newsletter. This sealant could be useful for on the spot repairs. ;)

Mr Smith

That's all that stuff is fit for wheelbarrows anything bigger than a pinhead on low profiles and it's useless, ;)

there was a chap completed the Paris-Dakar rally using tyre sealant on a motorcycle (no other tyre repairs at all!) ;)
You couldn't make it up!

I use green slime from Halford's. It lasts a couple of years, and stops punctures from hawthorn.

Mr Smith, you've obviously had a negative experience with tyre sealant. :( Shame, because I'm convinced it's stopped me careering off the road & into a ditch on at least one occasion. (See below. ;) )

Once upon a time, the local constabulary mistakenly deployed a stinger in front of my car; if I hadn't had sealant in my tyres they'd have received a bill for 4 new alloys in addition to the inner tubes & valves they coughed up for. ;)

I can't comment on the quality of the Lidl's stuff, but for under £2 it might be useful to have in the shed/garage should the worst happen. There are numerous alternatives you can use as a preventative, the key to plugging any holes is to keep the wheel(s) spinning when you get a puncture.

All,
Try tyre weld. It worked on my Mud tyres which had a 6" nail in it. Highly recommend this.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

Hector

Thank you all.  I am now strangely tempted o attempt the Dakkar rally with a wheelbarrow :P
