They yacon seems to have shot up a foot in the last two days... I'll have to find out what to do with it...
Think I'll have another go at yard long or Hyacinth beans and Amaranth next year...  :)

Greenhouse envy is quite normal on here...  ;)

I'm going to ignore the mention of your 20' row of basil and let you know the aramanth you sent is doing great Ishould be able to start chopming on it soon  ;D  Thanks Saddad

Thank you Flighty that is really kind of you to find out. Basically I've been searching for a variety that can be grown outdoors

So here's to next years aubergines (Long Purple)  ;D

Flighty

1066 you're welcome! He's got six plants in an east-west row with  rows of climbing beans north and west of them. That way they're sheltered and get the sun virtually all day.  Good luck next year!

just bookmarked this thread, as the tip about the shelter might help me a bit as the site I'm on is quite exposed

Since asking about the variety I spotted 2 tiny aubergines tucked away in the foliage of my plant on the patio - so there is some hope for this year, but certainly not a bumper crop!

Thanks again

Same variety I mentioned earlier.  You can get the seeds in Wilkos.

Edited to add:
I have a feeling I might have some seeds you could have.  Would you like me to check?

I bought a Long Purple from Saddad's open day. It 's performing much better than my Black Beauties.  Does anyone here save seed from aubergines? Is this an appropriate variety? How and when, please?

saddad

Personally I pick them up at Wyevale... at 50p a packet...  :-X

Oh those okra!!-must try again.

As for aubergines-a bumper crop this year(neglect rules?).

Deb P

I've just bought some okra seeds in the Wyvales seed sale, ever the optomist...my Long Purple aubergines are coming along nicely too... ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

My early purple aubergine is outside and I've only just spotted a fruit around 4" long.
I've another plant, Calliope (?) that has a lovely little one growing on it. Hadn't realised that I should have had them in the greenhouse.  :-\
Mine's chock-a-block with Brandywine tomatoes at the moment which have taken over everything and I'm fighting to retrieve my cucumbers from the jungle in there.

We don't have a Wilcos here! So I would love it if you do have a few spare for me to try.

I was thinking of going over to our (renamed Wyvales) and having a rumage ......

saddad

They should still be on the stands at the moment... I prefer to rummage though...  ::)

What with Jenny`s problems my polytunnel has become something of a jungle-I waded my way through today and there was this chap who claimed to Stanley -Sadly I am only Dr Burridge so he wandered away :)
