Saturday's going to be the first time in ages that I have the whole day free to potter about on the allotment, and Metcheck says:



Hey ho. Was hoping to plant my garlic, broad beans and sow green manure in some of the unused beds. Looks like I'll be spending most of the day in my shed drinking tea and reading seed catalogues!  :(

Me too Mango - still got garlic (from Taylors), 30p worth of onion sets from Ryton, .... to plant.

There is nothing wrong with reading seed catalogues - perhaps make a wishlist for 2006 season! with a view to seed swapping?

Blooming whatsits - there is a flood at the other end of my road. Luckily, we are on the hill side of that road. Flooded in 5 mins - went to pick my son up from playgroup - and on the way back, couldn't get back along the road, had to walk around the block and get wetter....

The flooding has gone now that the rain isn't as heavy....

Been absolutely marvelous all morning here in Essex, but the sky is now dark and moody looking and the wind has gotten up.  You know it is going to pour just as me and number one son walk to school to pick up number one daughter!

I had yesterday off, and it was a fabu day - sunny, dry, even a bit warm, albeit very windy. I managed a couple of hours of pottering - planted half of my new daff bulbs (75 for £2 in B&Q - how could I resist?) and generally putting things to bed. But then I ran out of things to do!

I've still got to order my garlic and broad beans (this weekend). And the tubs by the front door were too heavy to carry down the stairs to the garden to plant bulbs in (we live on first floor).

Yes, something else I need to do, stick 'em in the flower patch on the allotment.

Sigh.

Waterproofs and wellies on tomorrow I think, rain or not I've got to plant stuff!

Well, Him up there's been pretty kind to us this week as we've started on the complete redesign of the garden.  New fence going up was slowed by gale force winds which tried (and failed) to wobble the posts while they were setting in their concrete feet.  We've had a few short sharp showers but most of the rain has fallen at night.  Consequently soil to be moved is now heavier than at the start of the week but we only got a bit damp.  At least another week's digging to do before construction can commence.

Dig, dig, dig, ......zzzzzzzzz......dig, dig dig!  Digging in my sleep now. :(
