LEaving worldly goods- a good idea- (since we're talking about Living Wills)

My father in law had a great idea I'll pass along.
After his wife died he took a job in another country.
What to do with all the family heirlooms?
He had 3 sons but how to know who should get what?
So he made a list of every item to pass on then gave copies to each son and told them to put number 1 beside the thing in the list they would like the most and number 2 beside which thing they'd like next to the most etc., and so on down the list.
Then Dad tried to see that each got what they cherished the most.
Which also meant we didn't end up with things we couldn't stand!
