Can I use these rings to grow my cucumbers in the greenhouse?

You could but they are quite expensive and not very large, I've got 3 which I use for tomatoes, I just use the black flower buckets with the bottom cut off and the bottom inserted into the soil, worked well last year.

Aha! But the point of the green things is that water & fertiliser go a different path?

Not very large? But they add a lot to your bog standard bag?

Of course you can but its how you are going to plant the cucumber into it that counts. Its best that you plant the cucumber on top of your compost and not into it as this will avoid stem rot.
What i do is to plant the cucumber on a mound then build up dry  compost like a volcano around the stem. lightly push down around the sides and that is where to water/ feed so it away from the stem.
you can the water around the lower rim and feed around the top rim
