manicscousers

we bought ours from e bay, I think you could make your own, I'm sure someone on here has..we use it for kitchen scrapsand some small weeds from the garden, the rest goes in the compost heap..it took a while to get some soil but it is really good, ours had holes in the top which meant the foodie bits got wet so we put a cover over, we also took ours into the garage when it went cold, just as well, I think they would've frozen  ;D
our rhs book tells how to look after them, I'm sure there's lots on the internet
there you go  ;D

Manic, when you say 'some soil' - how much?  After how long?

Just read that book 'composting with worms' and desperate to get going - may have to make my own tho'

we got 1/4 of a 70 ltr bag...that's after a year...it's going to be mixed with spent mushroom compost and sharp sand, we're trying to go peat free and make our own so I'm experimenting  ;D

Crikey, that's a low yield.  You can buy that for a tenner.  It's what I've heard, which is why I'm looking into making my own with a wider surface area for worm processing.  Not good at DIY mind  ;)

I'm completely in love with the wormcasts having used them on my toms this year.  Must have bag loads for next season....
