chicken sneezing?

I have just got my chucks (they are lovely!) just noticed one of them (black rock) is sneezing occassionally. He looks otherwise healthy. Should I be worried about this?

Hi. She did seem better, but was sneezing again today. I have put some cider vinegar in their water container. Tomorrow I will catch her and check if her nose smells (I read that will mean she has something more serious?)

oh wow - never heard that one!  I do know chickens get colds - so it maybe that - hopefully.  Keep us informed : )

A clove of garlic in the water might help too, anti viral.

Yes..garlic to keep colds away..cider vinegar to keep 'gut' healthy.. ;)

Hmmm...honestly..I don't know..but...I believe it is possible, but I should imagine rare...
You do hear of all sorts of weird deseases..auto-immune things..so why not...It's just that people do not tend to try to find out with chickens or other animals for anything unusual as vetenary bills are so expensive with simple test. It is cheaper and easier to put animal down.
Allergies with feathers and fur is often to do with the oil/saliva coating that is on them than the actual hair or feather. I would think that there is more chance chicken being allergic to other chickens feathers than her own.. ::) ;D
..this is all speculation...I'm not a vet or doctor.... ::)..even though I sometimes feel like correcting some medical 'professionals'..(last comment wasn't anything to do with any A4All member.. ::))

I got my chickens three weeks ago now and one of mine had mycoplasma this is one cuase of colds in chickens. It seems that the move stress often causes colds to come on and some are worse than others.
The advice i got was keep an eye on it as it will probably settle down by itself but pe prepared to get anti biotics such as baytril or tylan from the vet if the hen goes downhill and to treat the rest of the new birds (this is particualrly pertinent if the breeder that you got them from was small and didnt vaccinate thier birds)
I was told to put garlic in the water to and to try something called herben? couldnt find any
My hen is fine now after having a sore throat and watery eye but it is very worrying when you first get them especially as they are anxious about you catching and holding them when they are new to you.

Umm...mycoplasma doesn't normally clear by itself..and it will need treatment..
and it is very contagius..keep eye on your other girls. Often is better to treat the whole lot rather than just separate and treat the one. Winter is only just coming and that is when mycoplasma really 'hits the roof'...
So if you chicken is still showing any signs of it..treat it sooner than later...
As you only just got yours..it would have had when you bought it..and that is not how you should have received your new girls..I'm sorry to say, but it looks like your supplier has supplied you 'unfit' chicken...but do keep it eyes clean..it will make her life much better.
Tylan is common remedy for mycoplasma....
