Hi Gang,

I have had to pick my tomatos partly due to the frost we are due friday and partly due to something which is eating them.

So i have a tray of green tomatos i have washed them and left them to dry by the window whats my chances of them ripening?

Some have got a few marks something akin to growth marks so brownish marks and some have black dots on the bottom do you think these might be ok?

There beefsteak tomatoes and some are a good but not huge size.

Toms ripen well on the windows sill.
Black dots on the bottom could be blossom end rot, can be worse inside the tom, so cut in half and then cut out any bad bits before eating.
If the spot starts getting bigger before they start to ripen, then I would chuck them.

Other brown marks could be blight, if it is they will get a lot worse very quickly, so quickly chuck any that are getting worse, and spread the toms out so they do not touch as one tom with blight will quickly pass it on to it's neighbours.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

Stick a couple of ripening bananas in amongst them.

It's the only way I've managed to get any toms at all this year  ::)

Fried Green Tomato with Polenta or Oatmeal.

If it's big tray, they'll ripen progressively in a box under that table or bed!

Keep the marked ones separate.
