Read on facebook from my granddaughter.
Dear Teacher
I talk no matter where I am.  Moving my seat will not help.
'My granddaughter does love a good chat'.

Don't know where she gets it from.   :-\     ???       :-\          ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I am so upset that I will never post again, or until tonight.  Me talk too much, never.  ;D ;D  Just waiting to hear what Kev had for dinner so I can copy it for tomorrow night.  He certainly eats well.  I am rambling again.

Sadly, the teacher does not have the gift of controlling her/his class.

My grandchildren are past school age.

However, remembering the rubbish teachers we had the dreadful ones my children had and those who were the brunt of jokes my grandchildren endured.

It is about time CCTV cameras were put in place, in classes, so that we can all judge the value of those who think they can get a decent salary by opting into teaching.

Our kids deserve proper teachers not the load of rubbish rejected by commerce and industry who happened to have the necessary qualifications to do the job a lot of us endured

AND

Put a lot of us OFF subjects we could have done well at.

I retired from teaching two years ago.  The best teachers are those who enjoy being with young people and can engage their interest in the subject matter being taught.  I have really enjoyed watching Gareth Malone(not a trained teacher) in action, as he attempts to engage boys in reading and thus raise their reading ages. A key part of his success has been found to lie in encouraging parents, and fathers in particular, to read with their boys.  When we have parents who really care what their children watch on TV, how much time they spend on their Xboxes and other computer games, how much sleep they have, and who they spend their time with, combined with teachers who love doing their job well, then schools will be places of real learning and achievement!
Rant over-back to gardening!

I thought it was funny too, but then you get the other comments coming in about rubbish teachers, and I guess that always gets me going!
