I've noticed Leaf cutter bees coming into the greenhouse the last few years, they are fascinating to watch. Usually I've seen them burrow down into the compost with their leaf cargo, but this year one bee is making use of the few pots left on the staging. Sorry not the clearest of pictures.

Fascinating series of photos Jayb  :happy7:
Is there a nest inside the pot that you can see at all or are they solitary bees and not make any home much?

Jayb

I think they are a solitary bee, and yes she is using the compost inside the pot to make a nest where she uses the bits of leaves she carries to make mini spring rolls of cigar shaped capsules to lay an egg in. I don't think she stays with them though.

Lovely photos.  I hope they don't all come swarming out in a few weeks time!   :tongue3:
