I’ve just purchased my seed potatoes from Wilkinson’s (Desiree and Pentlan Javelin), Where is the best place to keep these potatoes for them to sprout.

1.   In a cold dark shed
2.   In a light warm house

Thanks
David

Have a look back at all the advice given in the last week or so??

Like keep them in the cool/dark till they show sprouts & then put them in cool/frost free light with their buds upwards. ?? = Tim

Neither !!!! .... Was it a trick questions !?

I understand the best place is in a cool, frost free place which is well lit and plenty of ventilation e.g. I will try to put them in my unheated conservatory.

Too much warmth makes the growth leggy (I'm told).

Hi David,
I guess you are in the same position as me: anywhere in the right temperature range (8-10C) is too dark (garage) and anywhere light enough is too warm (spare room). I can't trust the greenhouse to be entirely frost free.

I've opted for the north facing windowsill of a spare room and tweaked the radiator down. It stays about 15-18C, which I know is officially too warm, but it's better than loosing them all due to frost! They seem to be sprouting ok anyway (a few millimeters so far).
