Managed to burn a small hole (50p) by putting a hot pan on it! (oops). What should I do?  ::)

What colour is the worktop?  Have you got a picture of the damage?

I would get inventive with some filler, white, blue black and grey paints, thin paint brushes and a satin clear varnish top coat.
With such a mottled design I am sure you would be able to make match the surface. In anycase it would look much better than the burn marks.

If it is a place that you put down pans on a regular basis put some of those nice stainless studs on in a pattern to cover the marks. My wife got a quite a surprise when she had found I had put some down for her. (good job they dont come off again).
