My daughter is having her hair cut tomorrow.  There will be about 12' cut off.  We have been talking about donating her hair to a cancer charity to be made into wigs.  My sis-in-law in the US has given me a site over there but thinks there must be something similar in the UK.  Any ideas please x

Sorry i can't do links but littleprincesses.org.uk  is a childrens charity. Have a look, they might be interested. Adult wigs are usually synthetic because it can take up to 2months to make a human hair wig.

I can't help, sorry, but just wanted to say what a kind thought that is.

Thanks for the advice.  I have looked on the little princesses web site and it is surprisingly easy.  I will be sending Grace's hair to them tomorrow.

How lovely of you. I am sure they will really appreciate your kind gesture. My friend is a hairdresser & I will pass on the info to her. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I knew a little girl who had a real hair wig that looked and felt like her own very red.  It made a lot of difference to her.   Synthetic or dyed ones of much coarser hair are just not the same.  As far as I know her hair never regrew properly.  She even liked to know the name of the girl who gave the hair.

They want very long hair 10-12 inches in a pony tail I don't imagine there are many people with hair that long in this country.

Only those who never cut their hair for a life time would get a decent length to make it worthwhile offering.

No wonder the wigs are so expensive.

I'm so glad I read this thread.  My son has had his 18" blonde ponytail cut off and it's still lying in a bag, I couldn't bear to dump it. Lovely to think some child will benefit.
