Hi all, OH at our allotment today cutting down some hedge, but I decided to spend the afternoon in our home garden instead tidying up, and although I had emptied the greenhouse we have there I still have the pots with the old tomato compost from last year, outside.  Has anybody got any ideas what I can use it for. Seems a shame not to be able to use it for something, but I don't want to spread any desease.  Thanks if you can advise.  :-* busy_lizzie

You can grow carrots in it... as they don't like much nutrition... you can spread it on the beds as a mulch or top dressing... compost it to improve the quality of your home grown... the list is endless..  :)

I used a load of  it to plant up garlic cloves, eventually it ends up on the flower beds.

As well as veg i do a lot of flowers in tubes, and pots I  buy chicken maure pellets, and from the garden centre its called, 6x its manure cocentrated 6 times empty all your pots get few hand fulls 6x mix it through the compost. three quater fill pot another hand full 6x fill to top compost and hand full chicken pellets to finnish. I  stand  all  the pots outside for the rain to wet them , and a plastic saucer under each pot to catch all the water that comes out the bottom and i feed this back back to the plants . The 6x costs £8 90p but great stuff it will clear or nose if its blocked (LOL)        Rugbypost

I knowq it's going to sound a bit wierd but I'd put it wherever potatoes had been.... tomatoes are the same basic family as spuds so you don't really want to grow spuds in it next year.... though equally I can understand folks saying grow carrots in it cos carrots will like that soil....
