My autumn fruiting raspberries have curled and deformed leaves which seem to contain an insect, it looks like a small brown caterpillar does anybody know what it is and is it harmful to the raspberries

We noticed yesterday that one of our plants had the same problem. We stopped growing the summer raspberries because of pests and now its got the autumn ones too.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

this is only the 2nd year for our raspberries, someone suggested it could be a fruit fly larvae.
On the whole I've been told to just leave them alone as something will probably eat them, not happy with that idea really as it seems to be getting worse and am worried I'm going to loose a lot of fruit, so any suggestions on how to get rid of them would be gratefully received.

I have a problem with raspberry beetle later in the year. I grow an early variety which I start picking from 3rd week in June well into July. The beetle only seems to attack late July, I have tried growing a later variety but they are always attacked before I can harvest them. I have just noticed an advertisement for bug clear which apparently is a natural insecticide. You can find it after the last post on this site. I do not usually succumb to reading these ads but it may be helpful for you and although I do try to be almost organic I love my raspberry's and hate sharing them with those little grubs. It is most embarrassing when you offer friends a bowl of the fruit and the blighters are wriggling in the cream.
