Has anyone tried to grow Cardamom? I am going to sow some seed today just to see how it goes
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Oh dear. I have some pods that I use for cooking so thought I would try to grow some.

Do you know Shirl, I'm going to give it a go too :)

They take about 2 weeks  to germinate, and need to start them off in a tray covered with lid (my case tray covered in cling film). I am told is that you need to keep the seedling compost a bit boggy, once germinated remove the lid and keep in a sunny position preferably in the green house and spray them to keep moist,  then when big enough transplant to bigger pot...I looked into this a bit more and the reason why they need to be kept moist as they are a tropical plant.

Lets see how we do. ;D  ;D

No, but you've got me interested  ;D and sounds like fun
I still have some I bought in India, wonderful green scented cardamon. Will break open a couple of these and see how we go  ;D

Its a cardamom challenge then is it. Took the seed with me today and guess what? I came home with them ;D.Will have to try to remember tomorrow.

I got mine out today, will plant them tonight, would of done it last night but had to give big lots of tlc to the other half as he had an accident at work and burnt the inside of his fingers (chef's I ask you), all blisters and swelling, poor pet, but it was great for defrosting the mincemeat...lol shouldn't laugh.

Anyway looking forward to seeing how we all get on. ;D

I had every intention of not getting involved whatsoever with this one, as they are supposedly difficult to germinate and it seems near impossible to get to flower and set seed (apart from the more obvious obstacles,  they apparently need to be grown over a certain altitude, it's quite low here) So not really any hope, but.....
I find I can't resist, I'm putting it down to you lot leading me astray and will be having a go also!
I better buy some more as I've not many in my jar! Like 1066 I'm going to try green and black varieties  ;D

You are all so naughty!
