    Reading the post the other day of the peach in the compost heap, got me thinking and i came home today with four lovely favoured nectarines...............So can anyone tell me how i go about growing them and what my chances are  ;D

The biggest issue is can you keep it covered in Wintr? If not leaf curl will be a nightmare. If you can spare greenhouse space then it is quite feasible..  :)

  I can keep it covered, it will live with the apricot in the greenhouse over winter. Do i just stick it in a pot with some compost?

You mean you want to grow nectarine tree from the stones of your fruit?
Well..basically yes..you just bury the stones into compost and keep it moist..eventually some may come up and then you can separate them and pot them in individual pots.
It maybe easier to keep the compost evenly moist is you use faily large pot size for the stones....
