I think I may have white rot in my onion and shallot beds

This is what the RHS says about it
Linky

Basically - it can hang around for 15 years, but the spores can only germinate once and then die, unless they have recontaminated the soil

Do you think it would be possible to sow an allium crop, say spring onions, or maybe chives (I have millions of chives)  Then dig them in, resow, dig in again etc like a green manure crop.  Do you think this would eliminate it or make it 100 times worse ??

Just trying to think "outside the box" as its going to be a nightmare otherwise, and I love my onions.

All the best
Sue
