antipodes

Has to be Anzac biscuits!

1/2 cup each of flour, rolled oats. coconut. sugar
1/2 teas bicarbonate of soda

Then in a saucepan:
2 oz butter
2 tabs hot water
2 tabs golden syrup

Pour the melted mixture into the dry stuff.
Put little spoonfuls on a tray and flatten with a floured fork, oven at 170 for about 10 minutes (watch them!!! they burn ever so quickly).
Survives a 3 week boat trip in a tin from Australia to Europe (was tried and tested between 1914 and 1918!)
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
