Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the site and only started growing bits and pieces at the tail end of last season. This year we have moved to a house with a much bigger garden and I now have a large veggie garden! Yippee! My limited successes lat year ensured I became hooked to this wonderful pastime.

I have a question regarding our new 'pets', four hens and two ducks. Is there a way of safely using the hens droppings on the veggie garden.

Thanks

Andy

Hen manure is great stuff for the   veggie garden providing you pile it up and let it stand a while or mix it in  the compost heap ...
It is too hot for garden used fresh,,,
It  is especially good for onion beds once it has been  left  for a while .

Hi adhudson

I use my chicken & duck poo in the autumn mixed with horse manure for the following years squash bed.

Growmore is quite right, it is too strong to use fresh, but it is a good activator, and works marvels with greedy plants.
