Fantastic week at lottie for Wildlfe.  This week I have seen, buzzards x 2, kestral, red kite, toad, bats x5,  pheasant, swans (flying over) and to top it all this morning I had a great crested newt.  Never seen one before.  It took me some time to realise what it was.  I so nearly trod on it.  On the way there was also the heron.

Lucky you, that's a great selection to have seen!  My highlight was watching two crows drinking from one of my plot ponds whilst I was standing no more than ten feet away.

I am very lucky we have nature reserves on three sides of the site.  I forget to mention the muntjac which are digging holes all over the place.

Mmm some wildlife are a mixed blessing. There's a so-called ecology park adjacent to the allotments which has a large pond.  Ducks and a heron use it when the two-legged pondlife aren't causing chaos nearby!

Another happy watcher here, too. I've been feeding the birds at work for the past three years and this week as well as the usual array of tits, robins, chaffies, etc, I saw a nuthatch and woodpecker on the feeders! I was very excited! ;D Have only seen the nuthatch one more time but the woodpecker is becoming a little bit of a regular visitor now and from my office window I can see him flying back and forth for dinner. Lovely ;D

Digeroo, surrounded by nature reserves - how lucky you are!

I saw the first Swift of Summer this morning. :)
My favourite Summer visitor the Swift, and a sure sign the warmer weather is on its way.
Our allotments are surrounded by fields, with a wood at one end. The evening birdsong is delightful.

I heard my first cuckoo yesterday, they used to be so abundant in Ireland when I was growing up. We've had some Starlings over the past few days too.....not regular visitors to the garden so it was lovely to see the cheeky things. We are getting Chaffinchs reguarly this spring for the first time......Blue and Great tits galore.

Oh I almost forgot, a Green Woodpecker flew in front of me on a dog walk 2 days ago, beautiful birds ;D
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.
