compost worms

Not sure I've got the right thread but here goes, I found lots and lots (2 Mounds) of compost worms on the outside of my compost bin the other morning, is this ok or am I doing something wrong, I put them all back and it hasn't happened since, is this ok. Have a picture but can't seem to upload it.
