new plot for my family

Hello,
last Sunday we were out as a family on the site where out allotment is and most of our neighbours were out too, the kids all go to the same school and everybody lives very locally it was a lovely day.

You can only have an allotment on the suburb if you live on the suburb and I thinks there are about 5 sites to choose from so there usually isn't a waiting list.

there has been a plot vacant for the whole year near to mine and so on Sunday night Adrian my partner sent an email to our site secretary to ask if he could take in on.  come Monday morning the site is ours. it's a peculiar shape rather like a wedge shape , 10 metres one end and 4.5 the other.
I have ordered some seed potatoes to plant in the two biggest beds just to break up the soil.

it is an open site not really shaded and so will be great for squashes and  beans , strawberries and such like.
it is split into 10 beds and Adrian and I plan to give the  children 11 and 8 a smaller bed in which they can grow stuff.

they have picked out beetroot, silverskin onions , strawberries and  Zeamays strawberry popcorn to grow and we will plant a patty pan summer squash for them both lay each plot out like the square metre gardening but maybe on a square 50cm and see how we go.

I do feel slightly guilty but on the other hand and email did go out in January to say plots were available and nobody has paid any interest in it. So it's revenue for the trust and a relief for the plots neighbours as a least the weeds will be kept in check.
I still love my plot just as much but having one plot that is quite shady and one that is in full sun will mean as a family we can grow a wider range of vegetables with better success.
Also I hope it provides Adrian with a little stress relief.

here's a picture of the new plot
