Sun caravan holiday in Poole, Dorset

Had four lovely days of sunshine in Poole.  Did a lot of walking, and went to Brownsea Island, and found the history of the island very interesting.  No dogs or cats allowed, so the pheasants, deer, red squirrels and chickens all walk about free.  Have to pay for the boat, obviously, and to get on the island but it was worth it.  Free electric buggy tours for the less mobile, but we walked.  Lovely island and the pheasants are very friendly and tame.  Apparently the deer eat the daffodils, but they had finished so we missed that.  Caravan was good, even had my own toilet, wash basin. Things have moved on from the old days, and the TV was better than mine at home.  Bournemouth beach was quiet, and it was the last day that dogs could go on the beach and bicycles could use the promenade.  Good idea, as when busy would be a nightmare.  All free bus travel, so am a happy bunny.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Borlotti.  Dorset is certainly a lovely County.  We spent a week at West bay near Bridport at Easter and really enjoyed it.

We used to take our caravan on the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg and the views going in and out of Poole Harbour are magnificent.  I have often wondered why we spend so much money on ferry fares going to France when the scenery in Dorset beats any that we have seen in France.  We do get better weather on the Continent though and that makes the long trip worthwhile.

Have a good one Kev, you are a bit young for Bournemouth.  Think I got my partidges, pheasants and peacocks mixed up, but never mind, old age.  Saw a nice house on Poole Harbour with a blue tiled roof, unfortunately it was £4 million, so a bit expensive for me.   :sunny: :sunny:
