Currant bushes - suggestions for keeping the bugs away

I planted red and black currant bushes a couple of seasons back but have harvested next to nothing.  Nice crop of potential fruit have now  appeared and I'm keen not to lose them.  I know to net up to protect against birds, but is there anything I should/could be doing to keep bugs away.

Some of the growing tips of my red currants are starting to be attacked by blackfly.  I have picked out the tips and found some ladybirds.  It only seems to be some varieties.   I am hoping it will not be bad enough to affect the fruiting.

I have a blackbird nesting in one of my redcurrants, cheeking so and so wants to get first dibs.

I find that currants are most reliable bushes for crops and they get least attention from me with huge returns
I just let my bushes to be and they've never suffered with bug troubles...
I would suggest...pamper your bushes with mulches rather than worry about bugs..healthier the bushes less chance getting bugs
