We have now been eating our new potatoes for the last week, looking at the size of some of them could have started them earlier

First ones we tried were Arran Pilot, quite small but yummy, have also tried our  Maris Peer (second earlier) and Maris Bard , which has a beautiful flavour and they are of a very good size!!

So really please so far , good clean spuds, no damage etc (YET!)

Yes we have been eating new spuds for a week (almost a month later than last year!! I was a bit slow at putting them in, I must add). They are Belle de Fontenay and they are between 5 and 8 cm, quite perfect and there are easily 7 spuds to a plant. I dig them up a plant at a time as they are still developing baby spuds.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
