asparagus seed

Have been given some asparagus seed with the instruction to soak in hot water for 24 hours before soaking.  About 6 seeds are floating - are they no good?

Can't remember those instructions but, like when you wash rice, some always floats, & you use it??

But if you have plenty, why risk it. Or sow & wait & see??
