Hello there

I have manged to source free manure from the city farm in Nottingham.... I don't think it will be well rotted though.... should I put it straight into a rasied bed or leave it to one side to rot down????

Thanks

Dave

There are those who will differ from me as they will say let it rot down for six months or more which is is the usual answer.

But I look at it this way if you DIG it in now by the time you you come to planting ( roughly six months time) it will have rotted down equally as much and you are not faced with a heavy job next spring!

See the other ongoing thread on 'manure' for more opinions....Tg

I would recommend testing manure from new source by growing broadbeans in it before you dig it in.
