Is it too late to plant leeks and black Italian kale and does anyone know where I can buy any plants please, due to circumstances beyond my control I left it too late to plant any seeds?

Leeks I have just planted and I am sowing kale this week :-)  Maybe I am a bit late in that though...
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Kale should be ok but not sure about leeks as I tend to go really early for them..
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

Just sown kale here, there are leeklings in most of the garden centres and DIY shops down here.

Sowed kale in august last year and had a small but regular crop over winter from them.

I planted out my leeks last Sunday. They looked more like chives but after a good watering in they are now perking up. However early I sow the seeds I have never been able to get them really strong by the time they need to be planted out, but I still get good sized leeks so I don't worry about it.

When seedlings have been eaten and I've resown in July or even last year maybe August, I've had very weedy looking leeks, but they taste just as good! You could always grow more of them, closer together, seeing as they'll never get very big anyway, so you'll still have the same amount of leek to cook with.

You could sow leeks & have them as baby leeks, very expensive in the shops.

I've got leeks in modules waiting to get planted out hopefully next week, a bit late but as others have said they should do ok.
I've sown kale quite late before and covered it with debris netting and it has gone on to do very well. I think the little micro climate gives it that little boost and keeps it growing a little bit better.
You might try a B&Q if you have one local, they often have a range of veggie plants, whether they have been looked after is another matter!
