Here are a couple of piccies for you all.

These are my old ponds:-

Half way there:-

and this is the new one!!

Almost filled with water but still a lot to do. A small pool has to be constructed on top of the mound of earth with a waterfall leading into the new pond, a bog area at the back and a bark strip at the front. (The bark strip is to stop grass cuttings getting into the water when we mow the lawn.) We retained all  the 'living' water from the old ponds and added it into the new one. Last night we heard our frogs croaking so we think they approve of their new home!!  ;D

When we've finished with the pond it means we'll only have the other 3/4 of the garden left to do!!! Phew - no rest for the wicked.  :P

Wonderful and aren't ponds so interesting.  Always something to look at  :)  I only had a very titchy one at my other house but it always got toads and frogs in it.  I'd like one at my current house but we get tonnes of leaf fall so I've been told no to attempt it.  My OH has laid me a cable for some sort of water feature though so all is not lost.
I came, I saw, I composted

Eileen your pond looks wonderful, I am really envious.  We are busy hard landscaping in our front garden, new drive, walls etc, so it is going to be a while before we can think about a pond at the moment.  Shall look forward to seeing the finished pond.  Enjoy it.

Wow!!  Looks fantastic - you must post a finished piccie when you get chance.

How deep is it incidentally?  Are you planning on keeping Fish?

:o Wow Eileen that is going to look great, I like the sound of the water feature, more pics on the progression please 8)

Seven times I altered our ponds :o each time getting bigger and bigger, the eighth pond has been made smaller (Old age creeping up on me) ;D

Val

It looks great Eileen, you have worked hard, I've got a little water feature...wouldn't dream of calling it a pond, but the frogs love it. Can't wait to see your finished pic.

At just three upgrades I've still a long way to go to catch up but I'm pleased to say that as at the time of posting I'm still going for the longer, wider, deeper approach :)  After each alteration did you stand back and think to yourself "Never again"?

Yes eight times and still counting ;D (In my dreams) ;D

;D Well done that looks as though the frogs etc. will have a 5* home. I was going to ask If I could have your surplus soil, but shucks you have found a use for it!

Glad to see your comments on my Newbie post. I am going to put the pics on the gallery bit as well. This is a great site which I only found by chance when I was looking for info on Rock Dust.

Happy ponding.
