Derek

I can't believe I am so delighted that I have managed to get a date in a couple of weeks time to have my hip replaced.  ;D

I have really been struggling this last month or three both with my work and on the lottie.

I am desparately trying to get all my stuff planted out or in a position where they can be left for a week or so.
My allotment neighbours have all offered to chip in to look after things for me.
One good thing is after my few days 'rest' in Hospital I will have time to keep up with all your comments on the forum.. There are so many posts each day it is becoming a part time job keeping up with all the useful information you kindly pass on.

Cheers
Derek

Good luck Derek, My 75yr. old dad had his hip replaced not long ago and he's back to normal walking up Snowdon, golfing and jumpping on and off his narrow boat to work the locks! ;)

It will transform you Derek.  Good luck with it.  A bit of rehabilitation and you will be good as new and back on your plot.  Our Coal Man had a hip replacement op and two knee replacements and he continued to deliver coal 20 years after his op. He was amazing.   :) busy_lizzie

good luck Derek. (LRI by any chance?). my OH's grandma had her hip replaced at the end of November and it has given her a new lease-healed in no time at all. she is 80 and very determined!

My mum had one done in Feb and she's 84.

All the best for a speedy recovery.  The thought of your lotty getting full of weeds will be just the spur you need  ;D

Thanks guys and gals for your good wishes... I did have the other hip replaced five years ago and its great...I know what I am letting myself in for this time around.

Its my left hip this time and unfortunately I have a replacement knee that side too. The hip has worn out causing the muscles to waste which has resulted in the knee being extremely tender and painful...hopefully the hip replacement will kill two birds with one stone (Metaphorically speaking of course)

Your right Wardy the weed problem is in my thoughts and I am concentrating my energies in that area over the next two weeks. As I said in my original post my Allotment neighbours are superb and offers to help abound.

Should be back on line within the week (fingers crossed) it will take me about a fortnight to catch up on all the many postings

Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery - not the best time of year to have to leave the veggies to themselves - but at the end of the day, you'll catch up with it all.
Let us know how it all goes...

Good luck to you Derek.  Hope everything goes well.  And a big thanks to your lottie neighbours who will look after it for you.  That's a big weight off your mind.
