.....SPIDERS!

Eugh!  They give me a turn every time I see one!

I was horrified today when, on splitting up a pot of perennials, I found what had to be an alien!!  :o

A spider with a red front half and a white body.    :'(
Couldn't rest until I identified it and here it is:

Who'd of thought it?  A wood-louse eating spider.   I'll have to (very carefully) release it from its jam jar now - the woodlice are a bigger problem than the spider!

Cool! I didn't know there was a spider whose diet was just woodlice (they must get bored with them)...

I love spiders myself, it's flies and their maggots that make me shudder  :-/

Glad to hear that your alien will be released without harm!

see ya,

I'm sure I tried that diet once - I've tried all the other bl**dy ones!

It's either an ancestral memory thing, or I was frightened by a spider at a young age or I'm Miss Muffett reborn - they do my head in!

I make every effort not to hurt them tho' - I try and catch them under my supply of spider traps - otherwise known as Bonne Maman preserve jars - so that others living here can release them outside!

What give you the shivers, guys?

PS - Outstanding reply C!   :D

About the only thing that really makes me shudder is spiders inside the house.  Outside, don't bother me at all.  I have to be very brave because I am trying my hardest not to influence the kids, so when my daughter comes hurtling towards me with a man eating tranchalla in her mits, I have to smile through gritted teeth and tell her how lovely it is, but that it would be much happier out in the garden.

Love snakes and anything wiggles...ahem. Wasps bother me, but that is more from a stinging point of view.

"Love snakes and anything wiggles...ahem."  teehee ;D

I don't have a problem with Wasps, they leave me alone. What I do get attacked by occasianally are the honey bees from the hives at one end of our allotment site - they don't like me  :'(

Don't mind spiders or anything like that.  The thing that turns my stomach are slugs, I hate their slimy bodies.  But the thing that used to send me into hysterics when we lived in Reading were Stag Beetles, I couldn't believe it when I first saw one as we have nothing like  them up North.  Saw one flying once and it scared the living daylights out of me   :o busy_lizzie
