I looked forward to a BLT sandwich all day because we had just 4 slices of bacon left, one ripe tomato and plenty of lettuce from our garden.
I fried up the bacon, slapped those babies together in bread with mayo and served them up to hubby and me, and thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my sandwich.
Then I went to clean up the kitchen :o and found two slices of bacon still in the pan. Here I'd put my husband's together properly but forgot to put bacon in MY sandwich! Never missed it while eating.
There must be some deep philosophical statement to define that experience.
I'm constantly leaving an ingredient of a dish in the fridge.
Wasn't it Escoffier who said 'faites simple ...'? (make it simple)
my mums always leaving the stuff for the meal in the microwave often not finding it til a day or two later
Or leaving some leftovers in the oven and wondering why the kitchen fills with smoke when you next turn the oven on......... ::)
Oh dear............it comes to us all ::)
I lost my kettle once, I had put it in the cupboard and the sugar in the fridge ;D ;D ;D ;D
Im not going to tell you what I do these days 8) 8) 8) ::)
yesterday I made myself a bowl of porridge for breakfast, then stood there wondering why the milk was still out even though I had just been in the fridge...
Yep, the porridge was in the fridge ::)
I'm 33... things like that shouldn't be happening yet ;D
what a giggle ;D
my mother made an extravagant pot of tea recently, took the kettle off the stove and poured the water straight into the tea caddy
still laughing

I did that last year but it was pouring boiling water into a whole can of ground coffee!
I did put the radio in the fridge once.
Yes but happend to the spare bacon?
OH took daughter to school one morning got half way home when a little voice in the back asked if he had forgotten something.
Mum put the joint on the shoe rack and her slippers in the oven!!! :o
We had to call the fire brigade. ;D
Now she has alzheimers and we expect things like this but the above happened 25 years ago lol
Daughter has just gone very weird with her taste buds?? She is 28 and I think she knows what shes doing.
Daughter was hungry and asked if I had any raspberry vinegar left from last year, I replied yes so daughter went into the garden and picked a whole load of mixed lettuce sprinkled the vinegar on and ate it for her tea???? No bread, no meat, no eggs nothing just lettuce. ::)
This happened to a colleague rather than myself, but a story was told of how she had prepared a delicious rice pudding. She described taking it from the oven, the top nicely browned where she'd sprinkled cinnamon and brown sugar.
It did seem to be a bit runny, though. This was explained by the fact that she'd forgotten to add the rice to the milk. ;D
It is a good idea. You get the extra sandwich later
When my daughter was a teenager she would often volunteer to walk the dog. We knew this was because she fancied a boy in the next street and she always hoped she would meet him on her way.
One day she had been gone about 5mins when she returned and said "ooops I forgot the dog"!
