yellowing shallots...

All my shallot leaves (about 72 plants) are starting to yellow at the tops of ther tips (about top 1-2")

They were only planted 10 weeks ago; the leaves are very tall, they have all split into many bulbs, are growing fantastically well, but are no where near ready for the tops to die down yet...

Do I need to add fertiliser or do I not need to worry about the yellowing?

I will take my camera tomorrow or the weekend and will try and get a shot...

Thanks

Can't figure it - not happy about it. Yet the garlic is still fine. Little of the yellowing so many other folk showed earlier.

Glad you're back, Tim; I hope everything's OK. Mine is yellowing as well, it may just be the peculiar season we've been having.

phew! mine are yellowing too, thought i had done something bad by default!

Guess they must be nearly ready then...Yaaaaaaaaay!!!

That's rather what I though, but I haven't grown them for years.

I have grown shallots for years and this year my shallots are also yellowing , I dont think its because they are nearly ready for harvest because they have only been in since April and the leaves are only aboput 4" tall, I dont know whats gone wrong perhaps the ground was too cold when planted?
PS the same thing is happening to my spuds

Phew, thanks guys; sounds like I am not alone  :)  It's my first year, so I was a bit worried.

They went in the first week April and are over 12" tall, so I was hoping they were not growing too quickly and about to bolt!

Mine are nowhere near ready. Put in 18/2.

mine went in in December, and scraping around, they didn't seem to have too much in the way of bulbs yet. I hope they'll go a while yet. My overwintering onions are beginning to keel over, but some of them (the ones I planted first) are nice. Others were planted too late and didn't do much.
