return of the mac

Got some of this stuff last year from t&m (only ones who do it). Really effective but it all died when i forgot to take it in. So i am forced to put my hand in my pocket and buy more, but i was wondering if there were other ways of propogating it than cuttings (im rubbish at these) does it produce seed or can it be divided?
Cheers

I have just had a googe mac and it says cutting easily propagated and kept frost free oner the winter.

Tell me, does it work?

does not overwinter well I lost mine a heated greenhouse may be the way to go or indoors.
Cuttings break a piece off and place it in a glass of water and it roots no problem. i had a piece of my sisters did it this way and when you have good roots pot up.
Our local garden centre had some large plants last week so they are comming about at a resonable price. Before you ask I cannot remember. but one plant you can make lots of cuttings of so off you go and find one. hee hee
Havent seen seed available so may be growers only.

Thanks guys, maz- i have never successfully managed to propagate from cuttings (not that i tried with the coleus- i just forgot it was outside unfortunately). I feel better about spending hard earned cash now that i know though- thanks

Bought one yesterday. It was £2.

One one side of me some new peeps have moved in with a cat and on the other they have just bought 2 x  7 week old tabbys.  :-*  All very sweet but a threat to my tiny little space so hopefully this will work.

Ahhh well back to the water pistol  ::)  ;D

I read somewhere that it needs to be a certain size or to have flowered  or ........ well something or other. I must go check what it said.

...must be established to release the smell?

I have C&P'd this..............

Attractive half-hardy plant with grey-green foliage which gives off a strong aroma especially when touched or in the sun. The aroma is disliked by most cats and dogs. Our resident cat reacts strongly to the smell!
In summer it produces heads of pale blue flowers which also give off a strong aroma.
If planted in a container this can be moved around the garden, thus protecting different areas of the garden from unwanted attention from cats. The pot can then be over-wintered in a frost free area.
Full sun or light shade. Any reasonable soil.

Just need some sun then!  ::)

The local Tom actully trampled the middle one down before he "plopped" right on top of it!  >:(
