I bought a Jersey lily bulb (sorry don't know the latin name) whilst in Jersey (surprisingly!) about 4 years ago, it's a fine healthy plant but it's never flowered and I wondered if anyone had any experience of these and could give me any tips?

Thanks

Palustris

Standard name for a Jersey Lily is amaryllis belladonna.
Gardening is the great leveller.

Mine flowered the first year and the fifth year, nothing again this year. I hope you have not got it in a pot, they don't like it that much.

Jersey Lily is amaryllis belladonna and also known as the Naked Ladies, so they tell me.

I have hundreds in the garden and this year is the worst in seventeen, only 5% have flowered. I would have thought that at least 80% would have shown their heads as they did last year 2010,

I have been told by folk here in Jersey that it is normal for Jersey Lillies to behave oddly.... I have never seen them act as oddly as they have this year.... We did have the driest on record. We had very little rain from the end of February to the end of July. That might have had something to do with it.

Wish I had taken pictures of the lillies last year, they were a picture, can you imagine twenty or thirty heads nodding away in groups in a border and multiply that by a dozen times..... good luck with yours next year.
