Is there anyone outthere who could let mehave a heel cutting for French Tarragon.  I would love to grow the stuff fresh?

Thanks

If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning....

Yes, I've got French Tarragon.  I can certainly let anyone have some, but a suggestion first.

The way I got my French Tarragon was to buy a pack from the supermarket (in my case I was lucky - it was reduced).  Use the tips of the shoots for cuttings.  I rooted about five pieces, and have had French Tarragon ever since.

Just a suggestion :)

I am ready to be corrected but I thought that early spring was the time for root division and summer for tip cuttings?

Well BAK, I remember the gardening presenter Geoffrey Smith, having begged some cuttings of a plant from an old gardener, and being given permission to take them.  GS asked the old man, is this the right time of year for taking the cuttings?  To which he got the answer 'any time of year is the right time of year if they're free'.

I can send Jitterbug and Biscombe some root cuttings, but I found it easiest to root some of the supermarket sprigs.  I mean, we gardeners all love a challenge, don't we?

Its off to Tesco I go with a mission - I have never seen tarragon in pots though and not thought to take tip cuttings from the other stuff!!  The dry herb is like eating grass though!!  Will report back with my findings.
