Arggggggggh - just had the first full Smith period for blight in my area.
Just the type of news  wanted to read after returning from 12 hours at work. :'(

One's nothing to worry about unless you're really unlucky. It's when we get a string of them that the disease starts travelling.

Smith criteria were met here yesterday for the first time this year but no Full Smiths yet.

I haven't even finished potting my tomatoes into 5" pots yet!!

Last year, BlightWatch sent me a text telling me that there was a blight alert in my area as I was in the process of removing my very last tomato plant!

(I rather like the idea of Full Smiths! They have shows like that at our local theatre from time to time, for Lady's Nights Out!)

Gosh, I'm eating mine!

Simmo - go to www.blightwatch.co.uk and you can log on and register for blight alerts. You can even have alerts sent to your mobile phone ;D

But, Ceres, you're not in Huddersfield??

Or even 600' up in the Cotswolds.

we have had a full Smith here (SL5) yesterday but I agree with Robert that it is normally only after a string of them that you are likely to suffer.

I'm not surprised having read the goings on of the A4A members over the last couple of months. ;)

But it does raise the question will you still be eating yours next March/April?

I will!.........such is gardening!

ps I don't expect to be eating mine until around the middle of July...........and those are earlies!

I hope so!  My last few stored from last season are still usable (just!).
