Forcing plants

As usual I have grown a few too many plants.

The extra tomatoes and courgettes in their little pots have become a bit pot bound and are flowering faster than those put in place. I suppose it is a natural reaction that they will do this, recognising that they can not expand any further, they are perpetuating their species by producing new seeds.

I have planted a courgette out and put a tomato into a bigger pot to compare how they get on, with their siblings which were planted out 'properly' and are growing more slowly.

Does any one make a practise of doing this for faster results and do they get faster results?

Yes, toms will produce an early but small crop if starved and water-stressed.
