Hi all, :D
I have just completed digging a new veg bed 10 feet by 4 feet with raised board edging. I have removed the turf ,dug it over to about 1 foot, depth & incorporated plenty of well rotted compost. Should I now, a, cover it with black polythene & leave until next Spring ?, b, sow a green manure? or c, do nothing?,  any answers or other ideas would be much appreciated.

Id sow a green manure, that will give the bed a good boost next spring when you dig it in. Ans it will keep the weeds down until then  ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

I would agree- I used to plastic on and the soil was too dry the next spring.
Obviously that would depend on the weather patterns but when it was pointed out to me by a fellow plot holder I realised he was right. :)

Not many serious weeds can survive in a lawn, so with any luck the bed should be pretty clean. You could either plant green manure or a crop like overwintering onions or garlic.

I am planting Phacelia.  This was a sucess on a neibouring plot last year and is being repeated this year.   Homebase sell the seeds.
